Sea of Thieves – Australia (SOTAU) is a community built for players across Australia and the OCE region. Our goal is to create a fair, respectful, and drama-free environment where everyone can enjoy the game and take part in community events. By participating in our Discord, website, social media, or any SOTAU run event, you agree to follow these terms.


1. Where These Terms Apply

These terms apply to:

  • The SOTAU Discord server
  • The SOTAU website
  • SOTAU social media channels
  • All SOTAU events and tournaments
  • Any situation where you represent the SOTAU community

If you choose to be part of this community, you are expected to follow these rules.


2. Respect Comes First

All members must treat others with respect. The following behavior is not allowed:

  • Harassment or bullying
  • Personal attacks or insults
  • Threats of any kind
  • Discrimination
  • Targeted or toxic behavior

This applies to:

  • Public channels
  • Voice chats
  • Direct messages between members
  • In-game interactions during SOTAU activities

If your behavior negatively affects others, staff may step in.


3. Keep Content Appropriate

Usernames, nicknames, profile pictures, and shared content must be suitable for a general gaming community. Not allowed:

  • Offensive or hateful content
  • NSFW or sexual material
  • Shock or disturbing images
  • Content meant to provoke or upset others

Staff may ask you to change inappropriate content. Refusal may result in removal.


4. Restricted Topics

To keep the community relaxed and focused on gaming, the following topics are not allowed:

  • Political debates
  • Religious arguments
  • Sexual or explicit discussions

5. Fair Play Only

SOTAU supports fair and legitimate gameplay. The following are not allowed:

  • Cheats or third-party tools
  • Exploits or unintended game mechanics
  • Promoting or teaching unfair advantages

We want the seas to be fair for everyone.


6. No Callouts or Public Drama

Public accusations and witch hunts are not allowed. This includes:

  • Naming or shaming players
  • Posting evidence to attack others
  • Starting public disputes

If you have a concern:

  1. Report it in-game if needed
  2. Open a support ticket
  3. Provide evidence privately

Staff will review the situation fairly.


7. No External Drama

Issues from other servers, social media, or unrelated in-game encounters should not be brought into SOTAU. We only act on behavior that:

  • Happens within our community, or
  • Is supported by clear, direct evidence

8. No Selling or Advertising

The following are not allowed without staff approval:

  • Selling or trading accounts
  • Selling items or services
  • Advertising servers, streams, or products

Always check with staff first.


9. No Ban Evasion

If you are banned, you must not return using alternate accounts or other people’s accounts. Any accounts linked to ban evasion may be removed.


10. Staff Decisions

The moderation team exists to protect the community. Staff may take action when behavior:

  • Breaks the rules
  • Causes disruption
  • Negatively affects others

Actions may include:

  • Warnings
  • Mutes or restrictions
  • Kicks
  • Permanent bans

Not every situation is identical. Staff may use discretion when needed.


11. Reporting Issues

If you experience a problem:

  • Do not start public arguments
  • Do not call people out
  • Open a support ticket instead

All reports are handled privately and fairly.


12. Community Responsibility

SOTAU is a community run space. By participating, you understand that:

  • Members are responsible for their own behavior
  • Staff decisions are final
  • The goal is to protect the community as a whole
